So it begins....

Yesterday I started potty training Korbyn. After going through 5 pairs of underwear before 10:00 a.m. I was ready to throw in the towel. I don't remember it being this hard with the older 2. Through out the day he successfully peed on the living room floor twice, the kitchen floor once, a kitchen chair once and to top it all off (warning for anyone wanting to visit my house before we replace carpet) he pooped on the living room floor. He didn't get it into the toilet once the entire day! The day ended on a high note though he actually peed on the toilet right before I put his diaper on for bed! So far this morning he has only peed on the floor once and since he isn't wearing underwear he has actually peed in the toilet several times! Good thing I didn't give up....right...

Squirt update

Since I haven't said anything lately about the youngest Brownie here's an update. He's going to be 5 months on Sunday the 21st. Boy it goes by fast! He's rolling over (both ways).

We have dabbled in food. He's had a couple bites of cereal and I let him chew on a biter biscuit. He seemed to enjoy it.

He's mostly sleeping through the night (yay)! In general he's getting to be quite a joy for us! We sure do love him!

Hula hoop?

So we have this frisbee that has a hole in the middle (i'm not to sure why). The other day Korbyn put it on and got it stuck around his middle. I guess he thought it was a hula hoop!

Leo's place

Kevin finally got to celebrate his birthday with his buddies on Saturday. We went to Leo's place and played some lazer tag, ate tons of pizza, and played in the playland. The boys had a great time!!!!

Ok so all the people who know me know that I don't do anything medical. I absolutley don't like blood, needles, all the touching, pretty much anything yucky. So far in my 9 years of mommydom i've been blessed to have kids who understand that. I've only had to deal with the minor stuff---some scrapes, cuts, bruises, immunizations----pretty much all the stuff that has little or no blood. Well, that is untill tonight. I guess when my kids had the meeting about what not to do Korbyn wasn't listening. He was playing downstairs (very happily) when I heard a cry. All moms can tell the difference between the cry that means my big sister is bugging me and one that means i'm in pain. This one was an owy :^( Me being the overly concerned mom yelled down the stairs "what happened". Kailey informed me that he poked his eye, nothing to serious right. I decided by the volume of cries I had better go down there and make sure he still had an eye. It turns out his poke was really a slice right below his eye. The first thing that went through my mind was "of course this has to happen when Joe is at work". I know super sensitive huh. My mommy gene kicked in after that and I very gently carried him upstairs and held a cold wash cloth on it so I could assess the damage. After looking at it and thinking it probably needed stitches I called the ever convient doctor of the neighborhood. He zoomed right over to check it out and told me yes in the very least it needed to be glued shut. Thank you Joseph :^) I hauled him in to the doc where they glued it closed and put a sterile strip on it and sent us home. Ok the drive home wasn't even 5 minutes and when I got out of the car and opened the door to get him out this is what I found....

Anyone who has had or has a 2 year old right now knows that you CANNOT put something on there face. They will pick it off. It still looks closed so I didn't know what else to do so I took some pictures and put him to bed. He was such a good boy at the doctor and Kyson was screaming his head off because he was hungry and tired. Ya he looks pretty proud of himself huh :^)

The saddest part of all of this is....he was done in by one of his 2 most favorite things.....cars and messes......

I'm certain it was one of these two piles of his stuff that he tripped over. Oh well all's well that ends well right?

Keivin turns 9!!!

Wow I can't believe I have a 9 year old!!!! He's getting so big. We celebrated his birthday at home with Grandma and Grandpa Brown and the ever present Uncle Chris (we love you). Kevin chose his favorite dinner---homemade crepes and for desert a from the box jell-o cheesecake. I wanted to make a real cheesecake but he wasn't to sure about the cooking part. I assured him it would be delicious but he wouldn't budge. He's going to have a party with his friends the first weekend in February, i'll post pictures of it later.

Girl Time!

This weekend (January 22-23rd) I got to do something I have NEVER been able to do.....I went to Boise without any kiddos! I know, I know I was pretty shocked too. I've been pretty burnt out lately with everything and my wonderful Hubby told me to go spend some time with my good friend Amy. After I confirmed it was ok with her I didn't give him a chance to change his mind. We had a ton of fun staying up super late, scrapbooking, being silly and laughing alot!! Her husband was also awesome taking up mommy duty so she could entertain me! Thanks Andrew!!! And thank you Amy for rescuing a friend in need! I came home a much happier and better mommy!

While I was there their oldest son Abryn (he's 6) lost I think his 5th tooth. I promised him I would take a picture and show it to Kailey if he pulled it. He didn't let me down!

Kevin is now a Bear!

Not in the real sense silly---in Scouts. He earned his Wolf badge 1 week before his birthday this year. His scout leaders gave it to him at the pack meeting on the 21st. He's really excited since all his other friends are already Bears.

Since it was Pack meeting we also got to have some fun. It was a obstacle course and all the kids (and some adults) really got into it.

This is the legendary Mike Brown (our Elders Quorum President) hula hooping. Joe did it to but he had the camera so I wasn't able to get any pictures of it, but i'm sure you can use your imaginations......yep that's probably about right :^).

Sledding

This was Korbyn's first time sledding down Grandpa Brown's big snow hill. I thought he would be out for 5 minutes and that would be the end of that. After 1 1/2 hours (and a very tired Daddy) we had to drag him kicking and screaming into the house! They sledded untill it was to dark to see and then they came in for some much needed hot chocolate and dinner. January 18th 2010.
